What Malay phrases do I need to know in Malaysia?

I’m going over to peninsula Malaysia and Sabah soon and want to know some essential phrases and colloquial. I speak a fair bit of Indonesian, but the topics I study tend to be very specific and don’t seem to relevant to just travelling/socialising. I’m aware its a different language, but yeah maybe if anyone knows some useful colloquial and things that I will often need to say and hear. Terima Kasih!

"Lah" is a surfix in almost any sentence.

"Apa Khabar ?" – How are you ?

"Makan" – Eat

"Saya lapar" – I ma hungry

"Saya panas" – I am hot

"Saya gatal" – Im itchy

What are some good attack names and transformation phrases for a Sailor Moon fanfic?

This is for my Rei/Yuuichirou fic I’ve been writing for a while and I’m stuck. I suck at making up my own attack names, and even worse, the transformation phrases. They always sound cheesy to me and I don’t wanna just use the already existing attacks too much since the senshi are fighting a brand new villain and he seems to be resistant to their powers.

I need some suggestions please.

Thank you!

Well, when I watch the Japanese version vs. the English version, the Japanese one always seems way less cheesy. Something about "Make-up" always sounds better than "Power!" Since mars is the soldier of fire and stuff, you could focus on that.

"Burning Fire, Make Up" or something. Ok, admittedly, that sounded a lot less cheesy in my head. Since she’s physic, (I’m assuming she still is?) maybe you could have her do a little prayer to the spirits or whatever, or just like, a chant or something, to the spirits before she transforms. I always thought that would be cool in the anime.

For the attack phrases, I think you should focus on the fire thing too, if you decided to make her transformation phrase about fire, anyway. Something like, "Burning Passion Flame" or something. Yeah, they all sound cheesy when I think of them. Now I see why you’re having trouble with that. Not sure if I was helpful…everything I say sounded kinda cheesy too. Sorry about that.

How do people come up with these phrases?

People say things like, "This is funny as hell". I know i may be taking it too serious but hell isnt very funny, but i just want to know how did people come up with these kind of phrases?

i gotcha…it’s like the saying "sick as a dog"- this person has NEVER owned a sick cat…
or "it’s always in the last place you look"- well…ugh…i guess it would be because who keeps looking after they find it?
or – "she eats like a bird"…birds eat about 5 times their weight everyday…soooooo…ummmm

my favorite is…when a kid acts up and mom or dad asks- "do you want a whippin’?"…i’m waiting for a kid to hollar back- "sure beat the hell out of me- i want it."

p.s. just how cold IS a witches tit?

Any tips/good phrases I should include when writing a personal statement to apply for a 6th form?

Just general phrases that will appeal to the reader that hopefully will make my application stand out. Phrases that will sound mature and clever!!!

Thank you!!!!!

Reliable, concietioncious (spelling) works well as part of a team, honest, trustworthy. Willing and keen to learn. Able to meet work deadlines.
Try and relate these to things you have done, ie work experience, meant you were reliable, trusted and punctual. Any clubs you are a part of ie Army Cadets etc.
Then flatter, flatter, flatter!

Good luck
