how do i conjugate this into passe compose in french?

my homework is to say whether or not i did the following things last saturday, so conjugate them into passe compose basically. how would i conjugate "avoir un rendez-vous" if i DID do that?

J’ai eu un rendez-vous.
you see you put either "avoir" or "etre" in the present tense in front of the participe passe or the verb you wish to conjugate. in this case "avoir" and the participe passe of avoir is eu. if this is troubling you i suggest getting a bechrelle. it show’s you how to conjugate every single word in the frnech language in every tense.

Which of the following pairs of acids and conjugate bases is incorrectly labeled?

1. Acid: HSO4-, Conjugate base: SO4^2-
2. Acid: HFO2, Conjugate base: HFO3
3. Acid: HSO3-, Conjugate base: SO3^2-
4. Acid: H2O, conjugate base: OH-
5. Acid: NH4+, conjugate base: NH3

Acids and their conjugate bases differ only by one H+ (acid has an extra H+ that the base doesn’t) therefore #2 is incorrect

How do you find the conjugate functions, U(x,y) and V(x,y) of F(z) = Cos(Z*)?

Z = x + iy, and * denotes the complex conjugate. :)

Or generally, how do I find the conjugate functions for just any function of z?
Sorry. I mean how do you find the harmonic conjugate functions, not just the conjugate of Z. :P

cos(Z) = cos (x +iy) and
cos(Z*) = cos (x -iy)

use the identities

cos(a -b) = cos a cos b + sin a sin b

cos(x -iy) = cos x cos(iy) + sin x sin (iy)

Note :
cos (iy) =cosh (y)
sin(iy) = i sinh (y)
cos(x -iy) = cosx cosh(y) + i sin x sinh(y)

cos(x -iy ) = U(x,y) + iV(x,y)

by identification
U(x,y) = cosx cosh(y)
V(x,y) = sin x sinh(y)

Good luck!

When do you have to conjugate verbs in Spanish and when not to?

I’m in first year Spanish and I know how to conjugate verbs, but sometimes I’ve noticed you don’t need to or aren’t supposed to.

How do I know when I shouldn’t conjugate a verb?

In general, if someone is "doing" the action of the verb, it must be conjugated. All independent clauses (complete sentences) have a conjugated verb.

EXAMPLE:
The student speaks with the teacher.
El alumno habla con el profesor.

Someone is doing the action ("the student" in this case), so the verb must be conjugated.

Verbs left in their infinitive (unconjugated) form in Spanish quite often match infinitives in English. Recall that infinitives in English are at least two words beginning with the word "to".

EXAMPLE:
The student needs to speak with the teacher.
El alumno necesita hablar con el profesor.

No one is actually "doing" the speaking in the above example, so there is no need to conjugate. Also notice that even in the English example, "speak" is in its infinitive form (to speak).

A pretty good rule is that only one verb per clause is conjugated, particularly as long as you are a lower level student.

¡Buena suerte!
